WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken during December was 231,491,000 lbs, up 7% from November and up 6% from December 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.
December production of edible liquid whole eggs was 145,268,000 lbs, up 6% from November and up 3% from December 2011; liquid whites were 57,622,000 lbs, up 10% from November and up 11% from December 2011; liquid yolks were 28,601,000 lbs, up 8% from November 2012 and from December 2011.
Shell eggs broken in December were 178,919,000 dozen, up 7% from November and up 6% from December 2011. Shell eggs broken in January-December 2012 totaled 2,114,304,000 dozen, up 2% from 2011.
January–December production of edible whole eggs was 1,663,126,000 lbs, up slightly from 1,660,286,000 lbs during the previous year; whites were 711,643,000 lbs, up 4%; yolks were 363,734,000 lbs, up 3%; and total edible liquid was 2,738,503,000 lbs, up 1%.
