Wheat has been sown in 298.38 lakh hectare (1 lakh hectare = 100,000) as compared to 298.61 lakh hectare in rabi 2011. Total sown area stands at 624.98 lakh hectare today as against 619.73 lakh hectare last year.
Pulses, coarse cereals and oilseeds have been sown in more area than last year while wheat and rabi rice lag behind as compared to last year.
