Shanxi province exported 41,354 tons of fruit, in 2012 - mostly apples, pears, and peaches - which were valued at $34.8 million. They went to 28 countries and regions.
The province’s fruit has entered some fairly high-level markets in the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and South Africa. Its success is being attributed to a more optimal use of the province’s orchards and larger areas. The fruit industry is now the main source of revenues for its farmers.
