Wine Australia, a government agency responsible for providing strategic support to the wine industry, is to conduct a new research project on the UK online wine market to create opportunities for Australian wine producers to expand business in the UK.
The study will be carried out by The Wilson Drinks Report (WDR), which will study the online market from both retailer and consumer perspective by combining analysis of UK online market with WDR consumer research.
The project will also be supported by an independent management consulting firm Axis Management Consulting, which will find out key consumer segments purchasing wine online.
Wine Australia wine sector intelligence manager Peter Bailey said the UK is one of the important markets for Australian wines.
"This project aims to provide deep insights into the online channel in the UK and identify the opportunities for the profitable and sustainable growth of Australian wine sales in the UK," Bailey added.
The study will be funded by the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation, as part of its research investment program to help the Australian wine industry.
