Politicians in Saskatoon have sent a proposal on food trucks back to officials, suggesting the first version was a bit underdone for their tastes.
Council members considered a proposal Tuesday during a committee meeting but said they wanted more information on the plan.
Saskatoon mayor Don Atchison said he wants all his concerns addressed, before approving the plan.
"It's not a question of if it's going to happen, it's when it's going to happen," Atchison said. "And quite frankly we need to make sure that everyone is on side with what we're doing with regulations."
One area of concern was the relationship between food trucks and restaurants and how close the trucks may be to a restaurant.
There were also questions about fees and taxes related to the mobile restaurants.
"We want to make sure that the regulations we put into place are regulations that people understand," Atchison said, adding he also wants to make sure everyone in the food services industry is treated fairly.
Initially, Saskatoon was looking at food trucks on the streets as early as May. It is now not known when they might turn up.
