German snack firm Intersnack is set to merge its UK business with United Biscuits' (UB) snacks division, KP Snacks, in 2014.
In December 2012, Intersnack acquired KP Snacks from United Biscuits for approximately $600m as part of its strategy to strengthen its snack business in the UK.
Intersnack spokesman told Bakeryandsnacks.com as saying that the company is currently evaluating plans to merge Intersnack UK and KP Snacks UK.
The merged entity will mostly come under KP Snacks UK, the spokesman said.
Intersnack UK unit represents about 6% of overall European operations. The company plans to put the KP Snacks unit separate from its European operations, but under a joint management team.
Meanwhile, while KP Snacks' acquisition in the UK was completed in January this year, but the takeover of KP Snacks Ireland is pending regulatory approval. A final decision on this will be announced by 29 May.
