Stine Properties III LLC recently purchased a meat packing plant formerly owned by Smithfield Foods, Inc..

Stine Properties acquired the plant for $337,500, according to the report. Smithfield Foods closed the plant in 2009. Back then, it was Plant City's largest employer. The meat packing facility was opened in 1976 by Lykes Bros., Tampa, Fla. Smithfield bought the plant from Lykes in 1996. The plant was one of the largest hot dog producers in the US.

Plans for the 170,000 sq. ft. facility were not disclosed.
