Thiénot Bordeaux-Champagnes, a France-based Champagne house, is to expand its presence in the UK with the opening of new distribution unit - Thiénot UK.
The move follows the 2012 opening of new subsidiaries Thiénot USA and Thiénot Asia to expand the distribution footprint of its brands all across the world.
The new UK arm, which will open in April 2013, will join with the group's existing subsidiary in London, Dourthe UK, and will handle the sales of the Bordeaux and Champagne portfolio, including Champagnes Thiénot and Canard-Duchêne, Dourthe, CVBG Grands Crus, Sérame and Clos de los Siete.
Thiénot UK managing director Christophe Galez was quoted by the drinks business as saying that the new subsidiary was aimed at developing sales of its brands outside London and also not supply directly to the on-trade outside London.
"Champagnes & Chateaux is a supplier to London's premium on-trade business so we decided to launch Thienot UK to develop the distribution of Thiénot brands in the provinces," Galez added.
Thiénot Bordeaux-Champagnes owns over 725ha of vineyards and nine Bordeaux properties, from which it sells around 30 million bottles of wines annually.
