Leroy Seafood Group announced on Wednesday it purchased 39.74 percent of the shares in Villa Organic at an average price of NOK 2.85 (USD 0.49, EUR 0.38) per share. The total purchase price is NOK 161 million (USD 28 million, EUR 21 million).
The move comes just days after SalMar ASA announced it acquired an additional 13.45 percent of Villa’s shares for NOK 47.8 million (USD 8.3 million, EUR 6.4), meaning that the salmon producer now controls 49.72 percent of the company’s shares.
Villa Organic AS is a fully integrated aquaculture enterprise, with operations along the entire value chain. Its fish farming activities are located in Finnmark. The group has a total of 16 licenses for the production of farmed salmon, and expects to harvest 13,000 metric tons in 2013.
