Village Tea Company Distribution (VTCD), the owner of the Village Tea Company brand of premium loose leaf teas and tea accessories, has signed a licensing deal with Carmen Brown to create tea flavored rum.

Produced by Yahara Bay Distillers, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based small batch distiller, the 70 proof or 35% ABV molasses-based rum is a blend of real vanilla and 100% natural South African Rooibos, a tea flavor sourced by VTCD. The tea is non-caffeinated, 100% natural and sourced from a root.

Carmen Brown CEO and founder Curtis Edwards said the Sweet Grace Vanilla Rooibos and the Village Tea brand completely matched with the rum.

"The flavors blended ideally with our in house process and the line of flavors we expected to launch for the balance of the year into 2014," Edwards added.

Carmen Brown Rum Tea with Vanilla Rooibos was first introduced in January 2013 at the Museum of Art in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 750ml bottle of the rum is currently available for sale in Texas. The company is also expanding its sales to Louisiana and Arkansas.

The company further plans to add new flavors from VTCD to the small batch rum produced by Yahara Bay.
