For a limited time, you can bring the sweet smell of White Castle Sliders into your own home while supporting autism research.
White Castle’s Slider hamburger-scented candles are back in honor of National Autism Awareness Month. According to the fast-food chain, All of the net proceeds from the candle sales will go to Autism Speaks, the nation’s largest autism research and advocacy organization.
"Autism affects nearly two million people and their families,” White Castle vice president Jamie Richardson said in a press release. “We are proud to stand with them and use this opportunity as one more way the 'Castle Shares' with our communities."
The candles are said to capture the burger-and-onion smell, or “scent,” of the famous Sliders. The aroma was captured by Nest Fragrances’ founder and CEO Laura Slatkin, who is known as the “queen of home fragrance.”
In a 2010 press release, Slatkin said she and White Castle’s owners first laughed about the idea.
“But, the more we talked about it, the more I thought to myself, ‘What could be better than a candle that smells like a White Castle slider? It’s what we all crave, most of all me!’” she said.
What are sure to be Harold and Kumar’s favorite candles are available for $15 each at White Castle’s House of Crave online store. Of course, each one comes in a ceramic version of the Sliders’ box.
More than 10,000 candles have been sold since the eau-de-burger item was introduced in May 2010.
