Rational India, the subsidiary of Rational AG, a company known in thermal food preparation for commercial catering and haute cuisine, is increasing its presence in the country with its ‘SelfCookingCenter Whitefficiency’ known to save 70 per cent energy consumption.
The ‘SelfCookingCenter Whitefficiency’ replaces almost all the appliances traditionally found in a professional kitchen. It can grill, steam, gratinate, bake, rise, roast, braise, simmer, stew, poach or blanche. The unit independently determines controls and monitors the optimum cooking process just by the push of a button.
The company’s products are used in over 100 countries and currently hold a 54 per cent world market share in this industry. It entered India in 2010 with its division in Delhi and is now present in Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
In order to ensure that kitchens of the hospitality sector save power, the company has put in an extensive service network with over 120 trained technicians, 250 chefs worldwide and specialised Indian application teams and is now gearing to move beyond tier-I cities.
“The SelfCookingCenter Whitefficiency is not just for Western cuisines but is widely suited in the preparation of biryani, tikkas, tandoori, idli and samosas. Our research and development department at Germany has been working closely with master chefs from India,” said Pinaki Banerjee, MD, Rational India.
Gerrard Kramer, a kitchen planning expert from Germany, highlighted the latest kitchen trends stating that customers worldwide faced growing energy costs and there was need to ascertain ways to save power costs. This is where SelfCookingCenter Whitefficiency helped to save 70 per cent of energy consumption compared with traditional kitchen equipment without combi steamer, according to him.
In India, its customer list included Hotel Lalit in Delhi, Le Meridien in Pune, and restaurants like Kaffeine and Tres in Delhi.
