Egg prices were down by 0.7 per cent compared to the previous week, and have dropped 5.4 per cent over nine weeks.
The retail prices of eggs in Tianjin, Xi’an and Nanjing dropped by the largest margin of 2.8 per cent, 2.8 per cent and 2.6 per cent respectively.
The price of meat was stable with just a slight drop.
The wholesale price of pork was down by 0.8 per cent, 1.5 percentage points lower than the previous week; and the prices of pork in Lanzhou, Tianjin and Nanjing dropped by the largest margin of 5.7 per cent, 4.8 per cent and 4.4 per cent respectively.
The wholesale price of lamb remained unchanged compared with that of previous week, while the price of beef rose by 0.2 per cent.
Average wholesale prices of eight aquatic products remained unchanged compared to the previous week, of which grass carp, big yellow croaker and chub saw an increase of two per cent, 1.5 per cent and 1.3 per cent respectively, while small cutlass fish, big cutlass fish and small yellow croaker dropped by two per cent, 1.7 per cent and 1.3 per cent respectively.
Retail prices of grains and oil fluctuated slightly, of which small package of wheat flour and rapeseed oil were up by 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent, small package of rice and soybean oil remained unchanged, while peanut oil was down by 0.1 per cent as compared with that of previous week.
With northern greenhouse vegetables on the market and an increasing supply to the market, the average prices of 18 vegetables rose 1.6 per cent, and the growth rate was 5.5 percentage points lower compared with that of previous week.
The growth rate of prices of lettuce, Chinese cabbage, rape and leafy vegetables dropped significantly, and was 22.3, 20.9 and 20.2 percentage points lower compared with those of previous week.
