Amira Nature Foods, a United Arab Emirates-based provider of packaged Indian specialty rice, has signed a $48m contract to supply third party branded basmati rice to a key repeat customer in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
Commenting on the deal Amira chairman and chief executive officer Karan Chanana said that the company is pleased to continue its relationship with an important customer in the EMEA region.
"This contract underscores the strong global demand of basmati rice as well as Amira's leading position in the industry."
"We look forward to capitalizing on additional opportunities for both our third party branded products and our Amira branded products," Chanana added.
Amira, established in 1915, is a provider of packaged Indian specialty rice, with sales in over 40 countries today. It sells primarily Basmati rice, a premium long-grain rice grown only in certain regions of the Indian sub-continent, under its Amira brand as well as under other third party brands.
The company sells its products primarily in emerging markets through a broad distribution network.
