Core Tip: A Canadian frozen blueberry processor's federal registration has been pulled pending "corrective actions" over its plant's cleanliness and other issues.
A Canadian frozen blueberry processor's federal registration has been pulled pending "corrective actions" over its plant's cleanliness and other issues.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said it has suspended the registration for Can-Pacific Farms, Surrey, British Columbia, a "seasonal processor" of frozen blueberries.

Since it's not yet blueberry season in British Columbia, the company isn't processing any blueberries for export or interprovincial sale, so isn’t any food safety risk connected to the plant or the suspension, the CFIA said.

Can-Pacific drew the suspension, the agency said, after it "failed to implement corrective actions addressing issues concerning operations, sanitation, cleanliness, storage, and unavailable or inaccurate documentation."
