After tallying more than 80,000 votes for more than 11,400 schools across the country, the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP) recently announced the winners of its Breakfast Blitz promotion. On behalf of America’s milk processors, MilkPEP leveraged the excitement around the Super Bowl to increase awareness of the importance of milk at breakfast and announced it would contribute $250,000 in grants to 250 schools across the country.
These grants will support school breakfast programs through MilkPEP’s partnership with Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program that was founded by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
“Eating a good breakfast helps kids be at their best in the classroom, but many go to school hungry and are missing out on the many benefits breakfast offers,” said Vivien Godfrey, MilkPEP CEO. “In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports nearly one in five children across our communities goes without breakfast every day.
“MilkPEP is proud that the dollars of America’s processors will ensure that children have access to a nutritious breakfast and are given the opportunity to start every good day with milk,” she said.
