Tenth and Blake Beer Co., the craft and import division of MillerCoors LLC, is expanding with the recent purchase of a 110,000-square-foot building that neighbors its Milwaukee brewery, according to a report by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Located at 918 W. Somers St., the building was purchased from Securant Bank & Trust for an undisclosed price. It was previously used as a Sara Lee bakery.
"As demand for our craft and specialty beers continues to increase, this additional space gives us the ability to expand our overall brewing and packaging capacity," Tenth and Blake President and CEO Tom Cardella said in a released statement.
Next door at its 1515 N. 10th St. brewery, Tenth and Blake makes beers for Chippewa Falls, Wis.-based Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co., a MillerCoors division, according to the report.
Tenth and Blake plans to refurbish the newly purchased two-story building over the next few months and complete the project in in early 2014. Company spokesman Tom Ryan said it has not yet been determined whether the expansion will also create new jobs in addition to the 12 workers currently employed at the 10th Street brewery.
