Marine Harvest Scotland took home three awards including Best Aquaculture Company of the Year at the Scottish Marine Aquaculture Awards on Thursday.
The salmon-farming giant also won the community initiative and business development awards.
The community initiative award was in recognition of the company’s contribution to the development of broadband for small remote communities on the Knoydart peninsula, the Small Isles, Arnisdale and Corran. As well as signing up as a major commercial customer, Marine Harvest’s input included manpower and materials.
The business development award acknowledged Marine Harvest’s successful expansion into the Chinese market, which the company believes was thanks to careful preparation and thorough research into the market potential.
“This is proving to be a terrific year for the whole team at Marine Harvest Scotland. Last week we welcomed the First Minister to open our new smolt hatchery at Lochailort — a facility described as the most advanced in the world. This week we are celebrating not just one, but a trio of prizes in these prestigious awards. It doesn’t get any better than this,” said Alan Sutherland, managing director.
“Our success as a company is entirely due to the hard work of every single member of the Marine Harvest team and I am happy to place on record my thanks to them all.”
