Core Tip: Private equity firms Blackstone Group and Lion Capital have joined hands to bid for British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) soft drink brands - Lucozade and Ribena.
In April this year, GSK said that it would sell Lucozade and Ribena soft drink brands for £1bn and focus on consumer health operations in emerging markets.

Lucozade sports drink range includes Lucozade Energy, Lucozade Revive, Lucozade Sport and Lucozade Sport Lite.

Ribena is a fruit drink brand available in different flavors including apple, orange, raspberry and pomegranate.

Ribena Really Light is the low-calorie version of Ribena with no added sugar. The Ribena Plus range includes Ribena Plus with vitamin A and vitamin C to help support immunity, and Ribena Plus with calcium for healthy bones.

Blackstone and Lion Capital have appointed bankers at the independent financial advisory group Rothschild to advise them on their bid, Sky News reported.

In June 2013, GSK has appointed JPMorgan and Greenhill to advise it on the sale of these two brands.
