The Philippines’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently published a draft Administrative Order, “Lifting of Administrative Order No. 122 s. 1970, entitled “General Regulation Governing the Prohibition of the Use of Cyclamic Acid and its Salts (B-6.3 Food Additives and Preservatives)” and Guidelines for Safe Use of Cyclamates as Food Additive.” The proposal outlines various guidelines for the use of cyclamates and cyclamic acid in food.
Previously in April, the FDA published an advisory on the use of cyclamates, also known in the Philippines as "magic sugar".
Any amendments to the Philippines's food additive use regulations will be included in the International Food Additive Database once they are established and in effect.
