According to Kantar Worldpanel, the average Spanish household eats more fish per year than the average annual fish consumption in Europe. The average consumer in the EU eats 18 kilos of fish annually, whereas the Spanish eat 43 kilos.
Moreover, the study of the Spanish Association of Commercial Coding (AECOC) found that 61.7 per cent of Spanish respondents said they usually buy products in supermarkets.
Aecoc noted that most fish sales are in supermarkets (46.9 per cent), followed by sales through traditional channels (38.3 per cent) and to a lesser extent, in hypermarkets (14.8 per cent).
