Peet's Coffee & Tea, an American specialty coffee and tea company, is gearing up to open more than 90 retail stores in eight markets across the Midwest and East Coast over the next 18 months.

The tea retailer will initially open ten stores in Cleveland, Ohio during the current month, followed by eight additional shops in Columbus, Ohio through early September.

The first store under the plan will be launched at Solon, Ohio on 1 August 2013.

Peet's Coffee & Tea president and CEO David Burwick said that the expansion confirms the retailer's commitment towards enhancing its brand presence across the US, starting with Cleveland.

"Being a part of the community is vital to who we are at Peet's, and we're looking forward to working with other local businesses in Cleveland and supporting the overall community," added Burwick.

Following the initial roll-out, the specialty chain will open the remaining stores across Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Beginning next year and over the next 18 months, Peet's would roll out new stores in the Midwest and East Coast, the company added.

Peet's, meanwhile, is collaborating with local businesses including Mediterra Bakehouse, to increase its store offerings with the addition of fresh, baked goods that complement its coffee and tea items.
