An Olymel pork-processing plant in Quebec has been temporarily closed after an ammonia leak occurred during the evening of Aug. 12. Nine workers were sent to the hospital but all were later released, according to The Canadian Press.

Last night, emergency services with specialized equipment worked on stopping the leak and removing the ammonia gas that forced 350 workers to evacuate the plant in Vallee-Jonction, south of Quebec City. Canadian authorities intend to find the cause of the leak before operations can resume. Olymel is cooperating with officials and will inform the plant's 1,000 employees once operations can resume again.
