Grande Cheese Co., Lomira, Wis., acquired PGP International’s Juda, Wis., whey processing facility, which is located adjacent to Grande Cheese’s Juda plant.

“Grande has been consistently growing its cheese and whey business,” says Wayne Matzke, president and CEO of Grande Cheese. “Because we had already been supplying some of our whey to the PGP facility, this acquisition makes sense. It will also help support our future growth and diversification, as well as play a significant role in the stability of the Wisconsin dairy industry, as this location receives whey from several other local cheese plants.”

The products produced at the new Grande Cheese whey facility will be marketed under the Wisconsin Whey International brand. Grande Cheese will offer employment to PGPI’s Juda associations. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

PGP International is an ABF Ingredients Co., based in Woodland, Calif.
