Pernod Ricard is all set to roll out Paddy Centenary Edition blend to commemorate 100 years of its Paddy Irish whiskey brand.
The limited edition blend is a 7yo single pot still whiskey. It is produced using malted and unmalted barley, which is triple distilled in a traditional copper pot stills.
The Paddy Centenary Edition offers notes of spice and vanilla.
Originally distilled in 1779 and sold under the name Cork Distilleries Company Old Irish Whiskey, the whiskey was renamed Paddy in 1913 in honor of salesman Paddy Flaherty for marketing the brand.
Pernod Ricard global innovation and category development director Brendan Buckley told The Spirits Business that Paddy Irish Whiskey has reached this impressive milestone thanks to its loyal fans across the world, who love its great taste and its authentic Irish character, which stem from Paddy Flaherty's enigmatic and memorable style.
"One hundred years on, we wanted to honour the man himself and his contribution to the brand's success. We believe this new limited edition is a fitting tribute to Paddy and the original recipe he sold, and we hope Paddy fans around the world will enjoy discovering the story of Paddy Flaherty and toasting 100 years of this iconic Irish brand with this unique special edition," Buckley added.
The limited edition blend will be available for purchase at travel retail and at select retailers in Ireland and France in September 2013 at recommended retail price of €75.
