Infia, a leading company in plastic packaging for fruit and vegetables, must know very well the potential of the Asian market - having already attended its first Asia Fruit Logistica in 2007 and still coming back with some regularity.
The supply and end market from places like South America is shifting to the Far East and Oceania, where Infia wants to be increasingly present. This is the reason why the firm, located in Bertinoro (Forlì-Cesena, Italy), confirmed its presence at the 2013 edition of the important trade fair that will be held in Hong Kong from 4th to 6th September.

Kit 500, one of the models where the "F concept" system is available.
In the company stand, located in Hall 3 – H22, with an extension of about 16 square meters, Infia representatives Alessandro Mariani and Matteo Baiocchi will present the whole range of Infia's products, with particular regard to the innovative "F concept", a side ventilation system opened on the fruit containers to improve performance and shelf-life of table grapes, strawberries and soft fruits, especially during transportation over long distances.
"F concept" side ventilation.
Already being adopted by important supermarket chains, the side ventilation offers several benefits both to importers and supermarkets (less carbon footprint, elimination of condensation of water vapour at retail level, elimination of ethylene aimed at a longer shelf-life, etc.) as well as exporters (25% faster precooling, meaning longer shelf-life, 25% energy saving, etc.)
An innovative MAP system (Modified Atmosphere Packaging, see picture above) will be launched during the fair aimed at extending the shelf-life of cherries. The system has already been in use for years in Europe and is now in an advanced stage of testing in the USA.
Another important topic will be the new Infia4earth program, officially presented at the last Fruit Logistica in Berlin. Infia4earth is a new model and philosophy for sustainable development with which Infia commits to respect the environment and policies related to work-safety and integrity. In addition, the first product obtained with this philosophy will be exhibited at the trade fair Asia Fruit Logistica: an exclusive system, called "One-Shot", of fixing a mono-material handel to the packaging, allowing separate waste collection also for fruit containers with handles.
