An emplrestaurantsoyee and four customers of New Hawaii Sea restaurant in New York City have tested positive for hepatitis A, prompting the city’s health department to urge customers who ate at the restaurant or through their catering service between Sept. 7 and 19 to receive a hepatitis A vaccination.

The restaurant is located at 1475 Williamsbridge Road in the Bronx.

Those who receive a vaccination within two weeks of exposure to hepatitis A may prevent symptoms of infection. Those who have previously been vaccinated for hepatitis A do not need another vaccine.

Anyone who ate at the restaurant before Sept. 7 is advised to check with a medical professional to receive an evaluation for hepatitis A infection.

The health department will offer hepatitis A vaccinations starting tomorrow, September 21st at the Herbert Lehman High School, 3000 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, NY 10461 at the following times:

Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 2-8 pm
Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 2-8 pm

Symptoms of hepatitis A infection include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and loss of appetite.

This is the fourth hepatitis A warning New Yorkers have received in the past year. The other three include the Hamptons Drivers Seat Restaurant, the Manhattan Alta Restaurant, and the Westside Market.
