Interstate Commodities, Inc., an agribusiness company that has an office in Omaha, has purchased Cargill’s grain elevator in Lincoln at 3001 Cornhusker Highway.
Terms were not disclosed. The employees at the elevator transferred to ICI.
"ICI was founded in 1947, purchasing distillery grains and selling to the feed industry throughout the eastern United States,” said Greg Oberting, CEO. “In recent years we have been focused on expanding through value-added service in agricultural commodity transportation and logistics. Acquiring the Lincoln facility is part of that strategy.”
Cargill operated the Lincoln facility since 1999 when it acquired Continental Grain Company's worldwide commodity marketing business.
Nebraska will remain an important part of Cargill’s growth in the grain business, said Robert Racek, a regional manager with Cargill AgHorizons U.S. The company has facilities in Nebraska in Albion, Alma, Arapahoe, Carleton, Dakota City, Elwood, Gibbon, Heartwell, Holdrege, Minden, O’Neill, Ord, Oxford, Ravenna, Shelton and Wood River. The state is also served by our elevator in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
“We will maintain our on-farm sales team in the area to continue offering marketing solutions and risk management tools,” Racek said.
ICI will now have the phone number 402-466-8411, which had been Cargill’s. The new Cargill office phone number for grain on contract to Cargill and delivered to the ICI facility is 402-466-2896.
