Kerry Foods, an Irish food ingredients and flavors group, has confirmed plans to expand its ingredients plant in Washington County, which would create 60 new jobs.
The announcement comes after the receipt of local and county financial assistance for the expansion.
The project is part of the company's nationwide re-evaluation, and involves addition of 119,000ft² space to the existing 165,000ft² plant in Jackson county. The facility currently employs 125 staff.
Work on the project is scheduled to commence as early as next week, and will be completed in the fall of 2014.
In support of the expansion, Kerry received a $480,000 loan from Washington County, and tax incentives of $1.8m through a tax incremental financing district, according to the Economic Development Washington County.
Kerry operations director Jason Ampe said, "We are very proud of our Jackson facility, which is our first manufacturing plant in the U.S., and are most appreciative of the long-standing partnership we have with the village, the county and the state."
The company operates 30 manufacturing plants in the US.
