Latest checks on instant noodle products available on the Chinese market found that their heavy metals did not surpass allowed levels, China's food safety watchdog said on Wednesday.

Soon after a number of Taiwanese instant noodle firms became embroiled in food safety scandals, authorities launched examinations of 129 packets of seasoning oil and vegetable flavors of 67 instant noodles under the Master Kong and Uni-President, Nongshim, Jinmailang, Wugudaochang, Nissin and Doll brands.

The lead, total arsenic and organic arsenic contained in the packets were below 1.0 parts per million (ppm), 0.5 ppm and 0.1 ppm, respectively, as required by food safety standards, according to the China Food and Drug Administration.

The examinations were conducted by the National Food Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and the National Quality Supervision and Testing Center for Processed Food (Guangzhou).
