Alimentaria 2014 trade show to attract over 140,000 visitors

It will once again provide an international business hub for everyone involved in the food industry.

Alimentaria offers various tools which enable companies to get the most out of their presence at the event through activities which facilitate business contacts and bilateral cooperation, distribution and innovation conferences between exhibitors and international buyers.

The international projects seek to make agribusiness more competitive abroad, encompassing virtually every continent: Latin America, Asia, U.S.A. and Canada, Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe and the Middle East.

This allows the show to act as a promotional platform for participating companies and a major centre for international business.

Organisers estimate that over 35% of its visitors which will be from outside Spain. They also have their aim focused on a concept they call 'Maximum internationalization'.

More than ever, Alimentaria has its sights set on foreign markets. The show has doubled its efforts for the forthcoming year so that the 3,800 plus participating companies can see an increase in their export opportunities.

With this objective, the Barcelona show has been promoted around the world to identify and attract buyers and distributors from emerging markets. Latin America, Asia and the Middle East are priority geographical areas for organisers, because of it is there that agri-food exports have great potential.

Alimentaria will as always, again champion innovation and quality of agri-food brands, allying itself with gastronomy and haute cuisine to achieve greater exposure and international recognition of the food and beverages showcased by exhibitors.

Included as part of the schedule for Alimentaria are the following;

Hosted Buyers Program: The objective of the Hosted Buyers program is to assure both exhibitors and visitors an effective investment of time and resources, in response to the current economic situation. The program provides to international top level decision makers an invitation with special conditions in order to offer them the opportunity to obtain a visit that will be a profitable investment in terms of time, money and results.

Brokerage Event: The program aims at helping European companies and technological centres to find partners for commercial agreements, technology transfer or collaborative projects. It is organised by ACC1Ó, official development agency of the Catalan Government, with the support of Entreprise Europe Network, European information and consultancy network.

The Consumer Goods Forum: Alimentaria in its strategy of cooperation with international leading companies that develop important programs in the agrofood sector, maintains a good relationship with The Consumer Goods Forum by sharing synergies and collaborating in events that benefit the sector and enables the creation of an international business platform in Alimentaria, in order to offer more and better business opportunities.

Food&Drink Business Meetings: Distribution meetings between Spanish companies and foreign buyers, organized by FIAB (Spanish acronym for Food and Drinks's Industry Federation of Spain) with the sponsor of ICEX (Spanish Foreign Trade Institute) and MAGRAMA (Ministry of Agriculture).
