Core Tip: Food packaging specialist Expo Industries UK has developed a new range of baking packaging being launched this month.
A range of cup cake boxes and inserts, together with accessories, will be available online and direct from retailers and the Rutland-based company behind the range, Bakerlot Limited.

The new range includes boxes that can carry between two and eight cupcakes and the box designs are unique to the Bakerlot brand. The boxes incorporate window patches made from Polylactic Acid (PLA), which is derived from corn starch. It’s friendly to the environment and biodegradable.

The boxes are produced using water-based, low odour, low migration inks and coatings, and made from food grade virgin board. Manufactured in Expo’s BRC accredited factory, all Bakerlot packaging is supplied in blue bags that can go straight into a food-based environment.

Bakerlot’s champion, Sir Bakerlot, is a character created who appears on the company’s website, products and point-of-sale materials.

Derby-based Expo Industries UK is a member of the successful international group of companies, Expo Industrial Group, operating in the global labelling and packaging markets.

The company provides the group’s marketing, customer service, studio, design and warehousing services. The Group is now in its 21st year of producing merchandising solutions in the apparel and food processing sectors. Products include hangtags, PFL, woven and adhesive labels, printed folding box board cartons, rigid boxes, PET boxes, polyprop cascades, plastic hooks, polybags (both food and non-food grade) and decorative metal boxes.

Expo Industries strives to reduce the environmental impact of being part of a global operation through the sustainable sourcing of all its materials and using FSC and PEFC accredited suppliers. The continuous development of packaging design reduces the amount of packaging required and wastage.
