ReposiTrak has signed a deal with Food Marketing Institute (FMI), which will encourage the use of ReposiTrak food and drug safety solution among its food retail and wholesale members.

ReposiTrak is a food safety solution provider, backed by international food safety consultants Leavitt Partners and retail technology firm Park City.

As per the deal, ReposiTrak will be an exclusive solution provider backed by FMI for food and drug safety traceability of goods and related services, including document management.

FMI members, which operate nearly 40,000 stores and 25,000 pharmacies, will be suggested to deploy ReposiTrak.

FMI food safety programs vice president Hilary Thesmar said that food safety is the number-one priority for its members.

"At FMI, we are working to help our members protect their customers and employees, meet all federal and state regulatory mandates, safeguard their brands and reduce financial risk. Traceability is increasingly important to everyone in the food industry and retail is no exception," Thesmar added.

The tool is interoperable and can work with any of the existing systems with the retailers for tracing products. It enables grocery warehouses, supermarkets, packaged goods manufacturers to trace products and components across the global supply chains.

Park City Group chairman and CEO Randy Fields said, "ReposiTrak and FMI will work to ensure supermarkets and their suppliers can easily, efficiently and cost effectively meet federal food and drug safety requirements while reducing the their financial exposure to the risks associated with contaminated food and drugs."
