Lobster prices have been as high as $92 per kilogram, in the lead-up to Christmas.
The catch is down in south-east South Australia, with some fishers reporting that the season is running later than normal.
Seafood exporter Andrew Laurie, from Robe, says lobsters have been difficult to catch as they are in hiding, to shed their shells.
"There's certain areas (where) they're quite concerned with the catch rates a little bit lower than they'd expect. In other areas the catch rate is good, it's above acceptable.
"It's not that low that it's going to worry the Christmas demand.
"The catch rate is still acceptable, but it's just lower than what the fishers would expect when the markets been quite strong overseas, so they've missed out on the better price."
