zipper packages provider Zip-Pak has partnered with flexible packaging converter Technipac to develop a new packaging for Giants Sunflower Seeds.Developed using a heat score technology, the packaging is claimed to preserve freshness of the Giants dry salty snacks and allows consumers to easily tear the packaging material across the zipper as well as facilitate resealing it.
Initially, TechniPac worked with Zip-Pak to design a package for Giants Sunflower Seeds that used the Pour & Lok closure solution; however, Giants has recently opted Zip-Pak's Vector closure for its 5oz. and 5.7oz. sunflower seeds of all varieties.
Giants Snacks plant manager Al Engstrom said the packaging had to be pourable, with a half close.
"We also placed a high priority on the reliability of the zipper to secure and protect the contents," Engstrom added.
Zip-Pak sales and marketing director Art Malcomson said, "Given the requirements of the Giants packaging, it was critically important to work hand-in-hand with TechniPac throughout the development process to ensure a successful result."
Zip-Pak provided its Vector resealable matrix as well as technical support to adapt to the packaging film and the tooling designed by TechniPac.
