Gonzales-based Misionero Vegetables announced Friday it has opened a new 70,000-square-foot processing facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, a city situated just northwest of Buffalo, N.Y., that can supply the company’s customer base throughout northeast.

“This location was selected for its skilled labour force, easier access to customers and the opportunity to bring a respected industry veteran, Hugh Bowman, into the Misionero Group to head this operation,” said Stephen Griffin, Misionero’s president and chief executive officer.

The new venture will be producing both organic and conventional salads in addition to new product lines slated for this coming year, the company said in a news release. Dan Canales, Misionero’s vice president of sales and marketing said the company researched various geographical areas for regional processing in both the U.S and Canada.
