Core Tip: Van Drunen Farms (VDF) launched Freeze-dried Cheese for a more natural alternative to artificial cheese flavors.
Van Drunen Farms (VDF) launched Freeze-dried Cheese for a more natural alternative to artificial cheese flavors.

The product's freeze-drying process allows for the cheese to keep much of its original flavor, nutrition and color, which creates tasty foods that contain nutrients such as calcium, protein, phosphorus, zinc and vitamins A and B12. The product is available in powder and shredded forms in cheddar, colby, Monterey jack and mozzarella varieties.

Suggested applications include macaroni and cheese, pasta dishes, dry meal kits, bread mixes, sauce packets, and can be used to flavor instant foods like mashed potatoes, soup mixes and rice. The cheese can also be used to make cheese popcorn, cheese flavored crackers, flavored chips and snack mixes. The product has an extended shelf life and works well for food storage products.

Earlier this year, VDF also added IQF Tomato to its product offerings, for convenience and flavor with high vitamin and nutrient content.
