AVEBE is a partner in the newly founded Protein Competence Center (PCC). The PCC, an initiative of Wageningen UR, started on the first of May 2014. Through this initiative, Dutch food and feed companies and knowledge institutes join forces in respect of their research and knowledge of proteins.
The other partners of the PCC are Agrifirm, Darling Ingredients International, DSM, Duynie, FrieslandCampina, VanDrie Group, Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, University of Groningen, NIZO Food Research, TNO, UMCG and Wageningen UR. The PCC will focus on four themes - to release and process protein from crops and other protein sources; to create products with protein; the value of protein in food; and the use of unexploited protein sources.
The PCC builds on a wealth of knowledge and a comprehensive infrastructure of the participating knowledge institutes. Prof. Lubbert Dijkhuizen, Scientific Director of the PCC, said “The PCC accelerates the process of bringing new innovative knowledge to the market. In-depth and high-tech protein research by Dutch knowledge institutes is turned into applications in close collaboration with businesses.”
