Indo Nissin Foods opens noodle factory in India

Indo Nissin Foods, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japanese food and instant noodles manufacturer Nissin Foods, has opened a new noodle facility in the state of Odisha.

Located at Idco Food Processing Park at Khurda Industrial Estate, the INR1bn plant is the company's third unit in the country, while the other two are located in the states of Haryana and Karnataka with annual production of 10,000 tons each.

The company is in plans to manufacture short noodles NISSIN Scoopies at the new facility, which has a capability to produce 20,000 tons per annum.

NISSIN Scoopies, which is a mixture of masala and noodles, is set for launch in the market by March-April.

Indo Nissin Foods managing director Yuji Tabeta was quoted by Business Standard as saying, "We are aiming to run the new plant in Odisha in full capacity in next two years."

Established in 1948, Nissin Foods produces and sells cup- and bag-type instant noodles in Japan, North America, and internationally.
