Hormel Foods is set to expand its manufacturing facility in Dubuque, Iowa to include production of its Spam brand products.
The project is part of a $31m expansion, which is expected to create over 90 jobs in the region, reported the Telegraph Herald.
The company currently makes Spam brand products at its sites in Fremont, Nebraska, and Austin, Minnesota.
Hormel is expected to finalize a deal with the local officials in the coming days.
Expansion at the Dubuque site will include at least two phases. The first will focus on a production line for Bacon Bits, while the second phase will include Spam production.
The facility currently produces various microwavable meals and canned chunk chicken products, intended for exports.
Hormel began operations in Dubuque in January 2010 through its wholly-owned subsidiary Progressive Processing.
