Probiotic ingredients manufacturer Ganeden Biotech has announced that GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) will be the first probiotic in an HPP product with the launch of Garden of Flavor’s cold-pressed, organic juices.

Three of the seven Garden of Flavor juices - Green Harmony, Appleade and Turmeric Tonic - have each been fortified with one billion CFU of GanedenBC30.

High Pressure Pasteurisation (HPP) is the process of applying extremely high pressure to a food or beverage that has been filled and sealed in its finished package, thereby eliminating harmful bacteria, yeast and moulds without exposing the product to heat that can damage flavour, colour and nutritional value. HPP can extend the shelf life of the juice up to ten times and enables wider distribution in order to make the juices available wherever refrigerated juices are offered.

“GanedenBC30 can remain viable through HPP providing beverage manufacturers the opportunity to fortify juices with a hearty dose of probiotics in formats that otherwise would be impossible,” said Michael Bush, senior vice president of Ganeden Biotech. “Garden of Flavor will be the first HPP juice to contain GanedenBC30 and we are excited to be a part of this exciting innovation in functional beverages.”

“We are constantly searching the world for the best ingredients to use when preparing our juices; and after learning more about GanedenBC30,it was obvious to us that offering a variety of our organic, cold-pressed juices with the probiotic GanedenBC30 would add even more benefits to the recipes that our customers already enjoy,” said Lisa Reed, founder of Garden of Flavor. “ While speaking with Ganeden we learned how important probiotics are to improving people’s lives, and knew immediately it was a wonderful fit and balance for Garden of Flavor.”
