Management expert Daniel Diermeier will be delivering the keynote address at Seafood Expo North America in Boston this year, focusing on the need to build and maintain a company's reputation in the industry.

Diermeier is the IBM Professor of Regulation and Competitive Practice in the Department of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences at the Kellogg School of Management and the director of the Ford Motor Company Center for Global Citizenship. In addition, he holds faculty appointments at the Department of Political Science, the Department of Linguistics and the School of Law, all at Northwestern University.

His keynote, "Reputation Management: Beyond the Obvious," will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, 16 March. Diermeier will describe new approaches to reputation management, how to handle crises, and interact with groups outside of the company.

"In a time of change, every company should have a strategy in place in case of a sudden crisis," said Liz Plizga, show director for Diversified Communications, producers of the expo and parent company of SeafoodSource. "Professor Diermeier's timely topic will arm attendees with the tools they need to overcome direct challenges from influential sources and help them build a reputation management process into everyday operations."

Diermeier has received numerous awards including the prestigious Faculty Pioneer Award from the Aspen Institute in 2007, the "Oscar of Business Schools" by the Financial Times and the 2001 Professor of the Year Award at the Kellogg School of Management. In 2012 he was included among the World's Best 50 Business School Professors by Fortune magazine.

His teaching and research focuses on political institutions, the interaction of business and politics, crisis leadership, reputation management, and strategic aspects of corporate social responsibility. He has advised many of the world's leading companies including: Abbott Laboratories, Accenture, Allianz, Baxter International, BP, Edelman, Eisai, Ernst & Young, Exelon, General Mills, W.W. Grainger, Hyatt, Johnson & Johnson, Kraft, McDonald's, Medtronic, Metro AG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Shell, State Farm, Takeda, Target, and UnitedHealth Group.
