OCTAL, the world’s leading clear rigid packaging material supplier, will be showcasing their high performance DPET™ sheet at the Interpack trade fair (Hall 09 Stand A21) taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 8-14 May 2014. OCTAL’s unique-to-the-world patented DPET™ sheet allows the company to continue meeting global demands of the rapidly-expanding packaging industry in high volume applications for food and consumer packaged products.
Developed in-house, OCTAL’s pioneering technology and innovation driven DPET™ produces the first and only direct-to-sheet polyester sheet in the world eliminating five stages of the conventional production process (pelletizer, SSP, compactor, dryer and extruder). DPET™ has been developed to be both cost and energy-efficient, offering absolute traceability that eliminates defects and resin contamination. As verified by independent researchers, OCTAL’s DPET™ sheet uses 65% less grid electricity per kilogram when compared to other polymers, translating to a 25% lower carbon footprint than traditionally-produced APET.
In recently conducted 3 rd party studies, DPET™ sheet outperformed both virgin PET and recycled PET in Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions as per the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, making it the least carbon intensive PET sheet on the market.
Joe Barenberg, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of OCTAL, said, “OCTAL will continue to focus on the growth of the Form Fill Seal (FFS) markets with a primary emphasis on fresh meat and cheese packaging following the successful application of DPET™ sheet in the Middle East and North African water cup market, the poultry industry, and single serve and multipacks in the yogurt industry.”
“Producing nearly 1 million metric tons of bottle grade PET per year in our strategically located PET Complex in Salalah, we have access to the main east west shipping routes to consistently serve customers worldwide with large orders within 14-18 days. Recently we surpassed US$ 3 billion in total sales and operations also reached a new milestone, recording our highest ever quarter production volume of PET in Quarter 1, 2014,” added Barenberg.
Since commencing operations six years ago, OCTAL’s client portfolio has continued to grow and the company now exports to more than 75 countries around the world. OCTAL is also set to launch a European customer support and distribution hub in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, home to the world’s third largest port, to create further advantages for increasing the company’s presence in European markets.
