Core Tip: A union strike at Indianapolis' Pepsi plant ended Saturday morning, according to union reps.
A union strike at Indianapolis' Pepsi plant ended Saturday morning, according to union reps.

The new five-year contract covering 350 workers at the Indianapolis plant was ratified around 10:00 a.m., according to Jeff Combs, rep for Teamsters Local 135.

They had been picketing since May 1 because of rising health care costs. PepsiCo said in a statement when the strike began that they'd agreed to the union's healthcare proposal and offered a plan in line with others across the country. Combs said that while the company did offer an $18/week pay increase, they also planned to implement a $15/week rise in health care costs.

Combs told Eyewitness News Saturday union members were comfortable with the approved contract and were able to protect their insurance.

The warehouse is set to go back to work Sunday afternoon.
