ry of Japan's Yakult Honsha, has commenced the production of Yakult probiotic dairy drink at its new production plant in California.Located in Fountain Valley, Orange county, the plant is spread over an area of about 387,300mt² and had been under construction since June 2012.
Initially, the plant has the capacity to produce around 400,000 bottles per day.
With the new plant, the company will now be able to supply the North American market with Yakult produced in the US instead of importing from Mexico, in order to meet expected growth of its business over the future, and to provide a stable supply source.
Yakult USA claims that the sales of Yakult have been increasing steadily over the years.
During 2013, the company has witnessed sales of more than 182,000 bottles a day, a 112.6% increase over 2012.
Yakult USA imports, distributes and sells Yakult in the US. Yakult products are sold in over 30 countries.
