The Iranian government will distribute staple food items to some 7.5 million low-income people, Iran Daily reported on Sunday.
The food package including meat, rice, eggs, dairy products, cereal and cooking oil will be distributed among the families registered by Imam Khomeini Relief Committee and Iran's State Welfare Organization.
This will be the second food package to be given out to the people in need since President Hassan Rouhani took office last August.
The Iranian government distributed staple food coupons to some 17 million Iranians last year in a move to assist the low-income families in the light of shortages of basic commodities and high inflation rate.
Rouhani said the handouts are aimed to "ease pressure" on the people and demonstrate some of the immediate benefits from the interim nuclear agreement with world powers last November, whereby limited number of western sanctions were eased.
The Statistical Center of Iran announced recently that the inflation rate for the 12-month period that ended on the last day of the Iranian calendar month of Khordad (June 21) hit 26.2 percent, Tehran Times daily reported on Sunday.
After years of hardship due to western sanctions against Iran's energy sector and financial system, Iranian officials hope that, in the light of a potential comprehensive nuclear deal with the world powers, they will be able to revive the country's economy.
