Diageo Korea has expanded its product presence to Japan with the launch of Smirnoff Ice drinks, a move that will cater to the increasing ready-to-drink (RTD) market in the country.
The company has expanded its production lines in Icheon, South Korea to boost the production of its RTD drinks.
Diageo Korea CEO Cho Kil-soo was quoted by The Korea Times as saying that the Icheon plant will begin the production of all Smirnoff brands selling in Japan, starting from 2015.
"It is the quality of our plant that we could exclusively export Smirnoff brands to satisfy notably picky Japanese customers. Our Icheon plant is also globally reputed as producing liquor in environmentally friendly way," added Kil-soo.
Diageo Korea has announced plans to launch new products by the end of 2014 and is set to roll out a single grain whiskey product in October which will be available across the globe.
