Taco Bell, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, will launch its first iteration within the Power Platform, in the US on July 17, 2014, to meet the dietary needs of consumers looking for tasting options that are high in protein.
The Cantina Power Menu, which will be available at participating locations nationwide, will include bowls and burritos, offering a source of lean protein with 28 grams in the bowl and 29 grams in the burrito, each for 500 calories or less.
Taco Bell president Brian Niccol said, "We've evolved the Cantina platform based on consumer feedback. We heard customers requesting a higher protein solution with the flavors Cantina delivers, so here is Cantina Power."
The Cantina Power Menu includes Burritos and Bowls that feature premium ingredients, including a double portion of marinated and fire-grilled all-white meat chicken or marinated and grilled USDA-select steak, according to the company.
Planning to expand these protein-packed options throughout different day parts, the company will also start local testing for a new Power Greek Yogurt at Breakfast, as well as Power Breakfast Bowls and Burritos.
Taco Bell will test Power Breakfast Bowls and Burritos as well as Power Greek Yogurt, including Vanilla Bean Greek Yogurt with granola topping starting August 4, 2014, in Omaha, Nebraska.
