Manchester-based importer Morgenrot has moved quickly to add Avalon Sidra to its portfolio after growing consumer interest in world ciders and Spanish food and drink.
Produced by acclaimed cider makers Trabanco in Spain’s cider heartland of Asturias, Avalon is a premium dry Sidra which is carbonated, unfiltered and has an ABV of 5.5%.
It is balanced with fine bubbles and clean aromas of green apple and hints of balsam. Available in 33cl bottles with an RSP of £1.50-£1.80.
The Trabanco family business have become synonymous with quality craft cider and own 100 hectares of orchards in Austuria, growing traditional apple varieties.
These are selected and prepared with age-old techniques working in tandem with modern thinking and innovation.
The juice is fermented with indigenous yeasts, in accordance to the guidelines for “Naturally Fermented Quality Cider.”
The brand name Avalon is taken from the Welsh ‘Ynys Afallon’ probably from ‘afal’, meaning apple.
It is an island featured in the Arthurian legend and first appears in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s 1136 pseudo historical account “The History of the Kings of Britain”.
Morgenrot national account director Graham Archibald said:
“We have been on the lookout for the right cider for a long time and are delighted to finally have Avalon which looks stylish plus oozes authenticity, heritage and refreshment quality.
“It is the perfect fit for our portfolio and we are confident it will see strong interest in the On and Off trades.”
