e-owned establishment Jinta Vineyards and Winery, a subsidiary of Le Melange, has bought US-based Quixote Winery, in a deal worth approximately $29m.The transaction follows the series of winery acquisitions in the wine industry of Napa Valley by investors in Asia including Sloan, Dana Estates, Kenzo Estate and 4088, reports Wine Spectator.
Quixote Winery owner Carl Doumani said that the winery has been sold due to challenges in marketing, sales and personnel.
As part of the acquisition, Jinta Vineyards will have access to Quixote's winemaking team and will continue retail sales at the winery.
However, Doumani will retain Petite Sirah vineyard and has plans to produce a new label under the brand Encandato.
Earlier in 2013, Jinta acquired Hannah Nicole Vineyards & Winery of Brentwood located in Contra Costa County, where it produces a range of wines from Cabernet and Chardonnay to Merlot, Syrah and Zinfandel.
Doumani has formed Quixote Winery in the late 1990s after divesting Stags' Leap Winery, which was founded in 1972.
